When Patrick (TSC’s Director) was just a teenager working in a restaurant, God set up a divine appointment to meet a woman from Germany.
Heidrun and Patrick developed a friendship that has been sustained over the years, despite the vast distance between them.
In March, The Shepherd Center was blessed to also become friends with Heidrun, as she visited us for three weeks.
She brought special gifts for all the boys and the staff, which we all greatly appreciated. Additionally, we now have several new games for the boys and staff to enjoy together, especially on Sunday afternoons. She brought a new football (soccer ball) to us as well, which was donated by some elementary children, complete with their names written on the ball and accompanied by sweet letters and drawings.
While trying to work around the wet weather of the rainy season and other various obstacles, Heidrun succeeded in making a significant mark on The Shepherd Center. Literally.
She used her skills and passions in art to brighten up our gateway, along with the help of her new apprentices: some staff members and one of our oldest boys, Solomon.
Inside, our office door has been transformed into a growing tree with all of our handprints. The boys had a really fun time getting their hands painted and slapping them up on the wall. Now, it is a common occurrence to have each of us pointing out which hand print is ours, and proving it by placing our hand over it.
She was also able to meet Denis, the boy she is sponsoring here at TSC. They were both excited to meet and have time together.
Though we are many individuals, we are one as we are united in Christ and in our desire to love and serve these boys in His name.
Thanks so much for your visit, friendship, and investment into what God is doing here in Uganda!
What a wonderful and colorful expression of love and concern for the boys at TSC.
