January 29th was a big day at The Shepherd Center.
We had two USA Board members visiting, both of whom preached in our community church’s two services.
During the second service, we celebrated with a special Thanksgiving. Here in Uganda, it is common for people to give thanksgiving offerings to God as a way to thank Him for something significant He has done in their lives. Sometimes people even organize a special time during a service to publicly thank God. So that is what we did as TSC.
We were thanking God for all He has brought us through, and especially completing a new addition to our facility so that we could take in several more boys off the streets. A major part of a thanksgiving is taking a special offering from the congregation, as a way for the whole community to thank God for what He has done. The contributions will all go to the church, as a way to give back a portion of the blessing God has given us.
After the service, we headed to The Shepherd Center for a big lunch and an official opening of the building and welcome to our new family members.
It was really rainy all morning, creating a muddy compound for the day. However, when the time came for the program to start, the sun was shining. Though it can disorganize things, rain is usually viewed as a blessing here. So, we enjoyed the blessing, despite the messy conditions for our party.
Rejoice with us through viewing some pictures of that day!
